AIT Application Guidelines and Forms (download pdf file) STUDY PROGRAMS Doctoral Program To be eligible for admission to the Doctoral program, a student must have very good academic records (both in undergraduate and graduate studies) and hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree, and a Master’s degree, preferably with a combination of course and thesis work, from an institution of good standing acceptable to AIT. Candidates are normally admitted into the Doctoral program as full-time internal students. To

appropriate cases, candidates may be admitted as special students to follow
a course or supervised program of study for short period. Any person who
is not a regular student and who seeks to register for a course or to
be attached to the institute to do research is required to apply for admission
as a special student. Applications for the Special Program status must
meet qualifications for admission to AIT and receive approval of the School
Dean. Further, special students must complete registration procedures
and have received the approval and confirmation of an available vacancy
in course enrollment from the instructor. Special
students must complete registration procedures normally requiring them
to hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. SEMESTER
SYSTEM The
Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology, has approved the
change-over to the semester system for implementation as of August 2003.
There are two semesters per year: January and August semesters. The semester
system consists of regular semesters of 15 weeks each. The
applications and semester registration schedule for 2005-2006 is given
below. *Applicants
are encouraged to submit their applications at least six months before
the entry semester. Applicants
must indicate which area of specialization they wish to select: Energy
Technology, Energy Economics and Planning,
Electric Power System Management or Gas-Fired Power Plant and Technology.

certificates: Applicants who are weak in English are strongly recommended to take English classes in their own country prior to coming to AIT.
