AIT offers a limited number of financial awards for the Master's and Doctoral programs, on a competitive basis, to applicants who have been evaluated as outstandingly qualified for admission and who can show proof of financial need during their studies at AIT. Applicants are also encouraged to seek support outside the Institute to finance their studies.

The Asian Institute of Technology offers financial support for the Master and Doctoral programs. Grants are provided on a competitive basis, to applicants who are highly qualified for admission and who are able to produce a proof of financial need for their studies at AIT. Financial aid is intended to meet the students’ basic financial needs and to help defray but not fully cover study costs. Support is also provided for research.

Scholarships for Master’s Degree Program:
  • 36-Credit Fellowship covers tuition fees of US$ 11,700 to complete courses/research to earn 36 credits out of 48-credit Master's Degree program. Applicants in the top 10% of their graduating class are eligible to apply for this fellowship. Students must pay registration/services fees and tuition fees for the first 12 credits before receiving the fellowship.
  • 24-Credit Fellowship covers tuition fees of US$ 7,800 to complete courses/research to earn 24 credits out of 48-credit Master's Degree program. Applicants in the top 11% to 15% of their graduating class are eligible to apply for this fellowship. Students must pay registration/services fees and tuition fees for the first 24 credits before receiving the fellowship.
  • 12-Credit Fellowship covers tuition fees of US$ 3,900 to complete courses/research to earn 12 credits out of 48-credit Master's Degree program. Applicants in the top 16-25% of their graduating class are eligible to apply for this fellowship. Students must pay registration/services fees and tuition fees for the first 36 credits before receiving the fellowship.

Scholarships for Doctoral Degree Program:
  • 52-Credit Fellowship covers tuition fees of US$ 16,900 to complete courses/research to earn 52 credits out of 84-credit Doctoral Degree program. Students must pay registration/services fees and tuition fees for the first 32 credits before receiving the fellowship.
  • 26-Credit Fellowship covers tuition fees of US$ 8,450 to complete courses/research to earn 26 credits out of 84-credit Doctoral Degree program. Students must pay registration/services fees and tuition fees for the first 58 credits before receiving the fellowship.

The candidate must hold a bachelor degree from an accredited institution, having a standing within the top 25% of the graduating class and a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above (see above).

Awarded by Royal Thai Government for studies at AIT, the scholarship covers full tuition and fees as well as a monthly stipend to cover living expenses to pursue full-time Doctoral or Master's degree program. Priority is given to highly qualified candidates of Thai nationality who are (a) faculty members of state universities; (b) Government employees; (c) State enterprise employees; and (d) others.

RTG Fellowship

Financial assistance is awarded by the Royal Thai Government to qualified Thai applicants to help produce a critical mass of scientists, engineers and managers to serve as future key players in Thailand’s sustainable development.

Scholarship Amount
RTG Fellowship is valued at US$12,012 to subsidize 60% of the tuition cost of the twenty-month master program while the awardees share US$8,008 to cover the rest.

Thai nationals applying for Master's degree program.

Qualification and Other Requirements
The candidate must hold a bachelor degree from an accredited institution, having a standing within the top 15% of the graduating class and a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.

The ADB-JSP provides full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, an allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance and travel expenses. A special grant may be made to assist in fieldwork and thesis preparation. In special circumstances, computer literacy, preparatory language and other similar courses may be covered under the scholarship.

Preference to applicants with work experience. A minimum of two years work experience is recommended. Preference to women candidates. Preference to applicants with lesser financial capacity.

The KAAD (Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst or the Catholic Academic Support Service for Foreign Students, Germany) provides scholarships for young professionals in need of such support from countries around the world. AIT will provide scholarships jointly with KAAD to support master or doctoral degree studies for qualified applicants from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

Application Procedure
  • Submit application to get admission for Master's degree program at AIT
  • Applicants who satisfy AIT’s admission criteria will be notified to supply the set of documents, which is required by the KAAD. (Please visit http://intraweb.ait.ac.th/AIT/admissions/KAAD.html for more information.)
  • Applications will be forwarded to the KAAD Regional Partner Committee Southeast Asia, for their endorsement, and then forwarded for consideration by the KAAD Board in Germany. The KAAD Board will finalize the selection of scholarship awardees.
  • The KAAD Head Office in Germany will notify successful applicants.
  • Applications for August semester entry must reach AIT Admissions Office by February.

The E7 is a group of leading electricity companies from the G7 nations (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and United States). The purpose of E7 scholarship is to support outstanding students to pursue advanced studies in sustainable Energy Development.

Scholarship Amount and Duration
E7 offers awards of up to $20,000 US per year for students pursuing masters degrees for a two-year period. These awards are available to students who are citizens of developing countries and countries whose economies are in transition.

Nationalities Eligible for the Scholarship
Students from developing countries who plan to undertake studies at the Master's level or Post-Doctoral level in areas directly related to sustainable energy development.

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) provides opportunities for graduate studies leading to Master's degree in development-related fields to promising professionals from developing member countries. The JJ/WBGSP scholarship provides annual awards to cover the cost of completing a Master's degree or its equivalent. The awards are given for one year and, provided that the academic program is longer than one year, may be renewed for a second consecutive year or a portion thereof, subject to satisfactory academic performance in the first year and the availability of funds. There is an absolute two-year maximum limit on JJ/WBGSP awards.

Scholarship Amount
Scholarship covers air travel (one return journey) between the home country and host country, tuition, cost of basic medical needs and monthly subsistence to cover living expenses. For more details, please contact Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship program.

For graduate studies leading to Master's degree in development-related fields, students from member countries of World Bank are qualified.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Philippines and AIT Scholarship Program provides higher education opportunities for young Filipino professionals in order to help create a pool of highly-skilled manpower so necessary for achieving long-term sustainability in the Philippines.

The Program is established to provide scholarship support to qualified professionals from the Philippines to pursue graduate studies at AIT in the fields needed for their country’s development.

  • A significant undergraduate cumulative grade of above average;
  • An acceptable level of English proficiency and good physical and mental health.
For Doctoral degree programs:
  • A Master’s degree or its equivalent in a subject related to the proposed research topic;
  • Both undergraduate and graduate grades significantly above average;

  • A brief outline of the intended dissertation research.
