Prof. C. Visvanathan was invited by the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, India for research interaction towards strengthening research collaborations between AIT and and NIT-K as part of the ASEAN-India IMRC project from 1 to 5 August, 2018. The AISTDF-SERB project collaboration is a triangle project supported by the Asian Institute of Technology, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal in carrying out joint research works and knowledge sharing through expertise exchange between the collaborating institutions.

During his visit, Prof. Visu had fruitful discussions with faculties at the NITK on facilitating research on the synthesis of β-cyclodextrin nickel ferrite nanoparticles for the removal of pharmaceutical compounds from aqueous systems. Notably, agreements have been reached for the first output of the collaboration, which will involve graduate research study on the synthesis of β-cyclodextrin nickel ferrite nanoparticles for the removal of pharmaceutical compounds in aqueous systems to be conducted in the Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) laboratories of AIT this academic year. Environmental Enginering Program, is expected to host one of the Junior Research Fellow from NIT-K for a period of 2 weeks during August – September 2018, conduct part of the joint research activities at AIT. Prof. C. Visu also delivered Institute Guest lecture on the current technological interventions in water treatment and the future outlook.
