AIT organized a Session during AGRITECHNICA, HortiAsia and VIV Asia 2017

Department of Food, Agriculture and Bio-resources within the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), AIT promoted its programs during VIV Asia and AGRITECHNICA/HortiAsia, 15-17March held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC). The department organized a daylong thematic session on “Food and Nutrition Security”. The session was chaired by Dr Ram C. Bhujel and Dr John K.M. Kuwornu. A total of eight topics; four in the morning and four in the afternoon, were presented. The topics were selected to address the burning issues of food safety and nutrition security such as vegetable technologies in Asia, organic farming techniques, case studies of value-based food supply chain and agribusinesses, aquaponics for safe and sustainable food, converting vegetable wastes to useful products, processing techniques, antibiotics resistance and food safety. During the seminar, hundreds of brochures/flyers of AIT, SERD, and the department programs were distributed to visitors from a desk outside the seminar room as a promotion activity.

About 1,000 exhibitors from over 50 countries in VIV Asia and nearly 500 Exhibitors in AGRITECHNICA/HORTIASIA comprising of world market leaders and regional and national Asian players in the field of agriculture, aquaculture and livestock industry showcased their new products (feed, feed supplements, drugs etc.) and equipment (tractors, harvesters, feed making machines, animal rearing systems etc.) designed using latest innovations. The event was the largest of its kind globally. Over 10,000 visitors from all walks of life from around the globe including students, professors, business people and professionals were expected to visit the venue during the 3-day event.
