From Traditional to Modern Aquaculture: Systems, Issues and Prospects

A special lecture on “From Traditional to Modern Aquaculture: Systems, Issues and Prospects” by Prof. Peter Edwards, Emeritus Professor, AIT is being organised as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 13 September 2017
Time: 9:00 – 12:00 AM
Room: A 120, AFE Building

Abstract: Case studies (country, species, systems) are presented of traditional integrated and modern aquaculture practices. The former are environmentally but not socially and economically sustainable; while the latter are socially and economically sustainable but not environmentally sustainable. Promising technologies to reduce the adverse environmental impact of effluents of modern pellet-fed aquaculture through linking traditional and modern practice, the concepts of carrying capacity of water bodies, and more efficient use of land and water, are outlined.

All interested are welcome to this special lecture. AARM students are expected to attend.
