The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), Federal Supervisory Natural Resources Management Service and International Centre for Best Technologies (ICBET) organized the IPLA global Forum from 6-8 October, 2015 in Moscow, Russia. AIT is currently taking the responsibility of the global secretariat function of IPLA. The major theme of this year IPLA forum was on “Science-Policy-Business Interface Towards a Resource Efficient Nation: Minimum Landfills and Maximum Resource Recovery”. This Global Forum provided an unique opportunity to discuss and explore the best possible means and tools for implementing sustainable waste management and the multi-stakeholder partnerships.
During this Forum, Prof. C. Visvanathan, made a presentation on “Role of Private Sector in Achieving Zero Waste Society” . During this meeting Prof. Visvanathan met Dr. Muhammad Khurshid, a former graduate of NRM, currently the direct General of South Asia Cooperative Environmental Program (SACEP), in Colombo, Sri Lankan. Dr. Khurshid, was very keen to assist SERD, specially the NRM program through the on-going regional activities of SACEP. He has agreed to visit SERD, and make a presentation in his next possible visit to Bangkok.
