SERD welcomes new faculty member Prof. Rohit Goyal, Professor in Natural Resources Management seconded by Indian government for 1 semester

rohit_goyalProf. Rohit Goyal did his B.E. (Hons.) Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in 1983 and M.E. (Hons.) Water Resources Engineering and Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee in 1986 and 1994. He also did P.G. Diploma in Remote Sensing Applications in Water Resources Engineering from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun in 1989.

He has been working at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur since 1986 and was promoted as Professor in Oct. 2006. He has worked as Head, Civil Engineering Department (2005-08), Dean Academics (2011-13), Dean Research and Consultancy (2013-14) and Dean Planning and Development (2014-2017). He was Prof. Training and Placement from 2010 to 2011. He received the All India Council for Technical Education’s career award for young teachers in 1995 and was member of State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) for Rajasthan State from year 2008-2010. He has guided 6 Ph.D. candidates and presently guiding 3 more. He has authored 37 journal papers, 2 technical reports, 5 chapters in books and about 85 papers in international and national conferences. He has recently organized two training programs for Water Resources Department of Government of Rajasthan on the subjects of “GIS and Remote Sensing” and “Basic Hydrology”, besides many others. He is presently working on a consultancy project from Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board on “Ground Water Quality for Bhiwadi Area”, which is facing serious problem of groundwater contamination due to industrial development.
